Shellie & Nick ~ Wedding Photography

I’m going to just come out and say it – I cried like a baby throughout this wedding! There I’ve said it! I know I’m not suppose to but I did.

From the first moment I met Shellie and Nick you could see this connection. When one spoke the other smiled. They were always on the same page with what they wanted and you could easily hear and see that these two people were so much in love with one another. I knew then that I had to capture this moment in time for them.

As their wedding day approached I spoke with Shellie a few times that week and met with them the week before and let me just say they were both so calm and collected.  These two got it- It’s about the I Do’s!

The wedding day approached and all thought the weather was perfect everything else was. Nick looks gorgeous in his tux, the boys were having fun and well Agnes and Dan (Nick’s Mom and Dad) were watching their son and enjoying the moment.  At times you could see memories from Nick’s childhood flash across their faces. It was beautiful. Next it was off to the bridal suite. Shellie look radiant and beautiful. While the ladies busied themselves and helped Shellie get dress,at which time Roger (Shellie’s dad) decided it was best to leave the suite and let the women be. As Shellie finished dressing and the door opened for her Dad to come in there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The pride that showed in Brenda (Shellie’s Mom) and Rogers face was unmistakable.

The whole day was filled with special touches and wonderful tributes to Shellie and Nick from their families and friends. I will forever remember this marriage as the one that continued to take my breath away at every turn. From Children singing and dancing a tribute, Grandparents reminiscing about Shellie and Nick’s childhood, the pride that both sets of parents exhibited for their children, to the way the wedding party spoke of their dear friends- it was truly an honour to be part of this wedding.

Shellie and Nick I wish you nothing but love and happiness in the years to come and again, thank you for allowing me to capture this magical moment in your lives.

I know you all want pictures so here are a few and there’s a slideshow as well.

Roomies, NYC & BlogHer

Yesterday I posted about my favourite night at BlogHer so tonight I’m posting about my roommate, travel companion, friend, & most importantly one of my best memories from our weekend.

The person I’m speaking of is none other than CandaceDX- SeeMummyJuggle (not Jiggle because as my husband pointed out that brings up a whole different search). From the 5:30am pick up to the 10:15 Sunday morning goodbye it was nothing but laughter, good conversation, and fun times.  Well except for when I yelled WHY on the plane when the landing was a little rough for my liking and the very load noise I heard from the outside of the plane just as we were approaching Toronto- it was Candace that reassured me it was just the landing gear.  Had I mentioned I’m not a great flyer!

Anyway we all arrived safely.  My favourite memorie however was the night we were sitting on a patio having cocktails in Time Square when I was taking pictures of Candace.  You see it started the day before when she got fake lashes but on at the Martha party.  They looked great so I wanted to take some pictures while I was snapping away a woman approached me and the conversation went like this;

Woman- [in a hushed voice]- Hey who is that

Me [just a quiet]- Oh she really wouldn’t want me to say

Woman [louder]- No seriously who is she!

Me [trying hard not to laugh] really I cant say but she’s from Canada

Woman [YELLING] OH MY GOD ME TOO! I’M FROM MONTREAL!

Me [smiling rather big, thing Cheshire cat] that’s awesome how are you liking NYC!

I laugh every time I think of that.

Over the course of the weekend Candace and I had lots of time to walk around New York together.  It was perfect I have been a few time and have seen many of the sites and she had never been and is planning a trip back with her husband so didn’t want to see too much of the city.  To top off a great weekend I also won us a free hotel night from the Hilton NY that I was able to apply towards the conference! SCOOORE!

Candace thanks for such a fun weekend. The only mystery left to solve is how the hell my clothes got soaking wet!

I do want to say this- Kid if you ever find yourself with out a roomie call me I’ll be your roomie anytime (think Top Gun and the wingman comment not creepo)

Anyway here are some pictures of our BlogHer weekend together!

Here’s a video of Musician Gavin DeGraw preforming at the Schick Intuition Kiss & Tell BlogHer Event at the Time Warner Center on August 5, 2010 in New York City. Much to my husbands dismay I did not get pictures of Karina Smirnoff who was also there.  Sad part is we are both huge Dancing With The Stars fans.  Can a person #fail and #win at the same time? I think I may have just achieved that feat!

New York City & BlogHer 2010

Oh Man! What a great weekend I had. it started out on an early flight with Porter Airlines out of Ottawa with Loukia and Candace than it was on to Toronto where lots more BlogHer Canada attendees where joining us for the trip into New York City. We are all so excited to see each other at the airport and there where lots of hugs and kisses and i think there might have even been a couple of squeals! Thank God for Alison who organized a LARGE van to transport 13 of us and all our luggage to the Hilton Hotel. You’ll be pleased to know that everyone was still going strong.

Night one consisted of the Canadian Embassy Party followed by the Schick party where Gavin Degraw performed for us (Squeal!) than it was back to the hotel for the People’s Party which we completely missed because we thought it went later than it did! Just to clarify when I say we I’m usually referring to Candace and I. Night one images and a more detailed blow by blow of the evening will be posted later this week. You won’t want to miss it! Lets just say it involves Martha Stewart as well as the Yankees, yes the New York Yankees.

Day two was incredible and I’ll be posting pictures from the day later in the week as well but first I wanted to post some pictures from my most favourite night. These memories will live with me for many years to come. There was a group of us that went for dinner at a nearby Italian restaurant and than we were to head back to the Hilton for an open air bus tour of the city but when we arrived it was different than what we expected so we did what any New Yorker would do- we started walking! We ended up at The W Hotel in Time Square and it was the perfect night to watch people stroll by, laugh, and talk some more. For me the night was magical. I might have met all these ladies, and Eric on line through Twitter but in my heart I know they are my honest to goodness true life friends and I’m honoured and blessed to call them friends. Anyway enough of me talking here are some pictures of an incredible evening with friends!

My Friends- Erica Diamond – WomenOnTheFence, Eric Ehm- YummyMummyClub, Alison Kramer- Nummies Bras, Jen- LittleMissMocha, Sharon DeVellis- SharonDV, Candace – See Mummy Juggle / CandaceDX, Myself- CLBuchananPhoto, Candace Alper- NameYourTunesCD, Eric Alper- That EricAlper, Sherrie Guthrie- SherrieMae23

I know we’ve all been enjoying the hot weather and the kids just got out of school but……

It’s already time to start thinking about booking your holiday photo sessions.  There is a Holiday 2010 special that will be available as well as special printing for all of your printing needs. Sessions are payable in full at the time of booking.  All sessions booked by July 30th will receive a 4X6 flat photo card design ($45 value) included with their mini session. Last years sessions booked up very quickly so this year I am offing 2 dates to choose between. September 18th in the west end of Ottawa (likely Andrew Hayden Park) and October 16th in the east end of Ottawa (most likely in Orleans). I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon.
